Luna the kitten had always been the only pet in the house. She loved lounging on the spacious couch, and enjoying comfortable lazy time in the sunlight.

When her owner brought home a dog named Max, Luna felt a bit overwhelmed. Luna didn't like Max, finding him noisy and obstructive as he lay down in the middle of the path leading to the couch, blocking Luna's way. Luna closed her eyes frustration, and refused to look at Max.

But Max was not easily ignored. He went up to Luna and tried to play with her. Luna grumpily hid in the corner and ignored Max.

One day, something unexpected happened. Luna's owner had gone to work and hadn't come back yet when a pipe burst in the house. Water gushed out and soon flooded the living room. Luna was afraid of water. When the cold water touched her furry paws, she couldn't help but shiver.

Max saw Luna's distress and went over to her. Luna wanted to avoid him, but there was water everywhere, and she didn't know where to hide.

Max tried to mop up the water with a mop, but the water kept coming. The little dog and the mop were no match for it.

Later, Max gently lay down on the ground, inviting Luna to climb onto his back. He carried Luna on his back while half of his body was soaked in water. He tried to keep his body upright and high, so that Luna wouldn't get wet. Max's back was warm and broad. Luna felt inexplicably safe and relieved.

Max protected Luna with his own body until their owner came back to fix the pipe and rescue them.

Luna and Max became friends that day. Luna realized that it was fate that she had such an unusual friend. They were so different but had a special understanding and complementarity. They played together, slept together, and became the most important part of each other's lives.
