"Like a Dream" by Li Qingzhao:
Last night the rain was light, the wind was strong,
I slept so soundly, wine remained undrunk for long.
I asked the girl behind the curtain, only to find,
The blossoms on the crabapple trees were still in my mind.
Do you know? Do you know?
Spring's green is lush, but red's thin and slow."
Last night, the rain was light and the wind was strong, making the trees sway and the leaves rustle.
Despite the noise, I was deeply asleep, and the wine in my cup remained undrunk. When I woke up, I felt like I had just had a dream, as if time had slipped away from me in my peaceful slumber.
Curious about the world outside, I asked the girl behind the curtain if the crabapple blossoms were still in bloom. But to my surprise, she replied, "The blossoms are still as beautiful as ever." It seemed that the world had moved on without me, and I was left behind in my own thoughts.
Looking out of the window, I saw the trees swaying in the wind, their branches heavy with delicate pink and white blossoms. They looked so beautiful and serene, as if they were a part of a dream. I wondered if the world outside was just an illusion, and if my own thoughts and feelings were the only reality.
Lost in my thoughts, I repeated to myself, "Do you know? Do you know?" It was as if I was asking a higher power, or perhaps just the girl behind the curtain, if they understood the beauty and fragility of life. The world may be full of lush greenery and vibrant colors, but they can fade away just as quickly, leaving behind a world of emptiness and sorrow.
In the end, I realized that life is like a dream, beautiful and fleeting. We must cherish every moment we have and find happiness in the simple things, like the beauty of a crabapple blossom on a rainy day.
