Once upon a time, there was a giraffe named Gila. Gila was a very quiet giraffe, but not because it didn't like to talk. It was much taller than the other animals, which made it very awkward to communicate with them. They needed to use the loudest voice to hear each other. Over time, Gila no longer initiated conversations with others and became a quiet and lonely figure.
Gila often watched other animals play and communicate. It really wished it had a friend! Gila felt very sad and did not understand why its height became the reason for loneliness.
On a rainy day, Gila met a lost butterfly. For the tall Gila, it was just a cool drizzle, and it enjoyed walking in the rain. But for the butterfly, the rain was a disaster. Its wings were soaked and it couldn't fly no matter how hard it tried.
Gila was kind-hearted. It stopped and used its body to shield the butterfly from the raindrops until the rain stopped and the sun came out.
The butterfly was very grateful. It fluttered at the same height as Gila and expressed its gratitude in a soft voice. To Gila's surprise, it could communicate easily with the butterfly without raising its voice.
Gila was also grateful for the butterfly's presence because it had finally found a friend to communicate with. They walked together on the grassland, talking and laughing.
Gila told the butterfly that it liked to listen to the sound of running water in the distance when it was alone, just like beautiful music. The butterfly smiled happily and introduced Gila to some small secrets of the grassland, such as the beehive and the ant's trail.
Although Gila used to feel lonely, now it had a real friend, which made it very happy.
